Take two songwriters, a cold winter, a guitar and heartache and you get the Crooks/Walsh Blues. Informed by her lifetime of writing, love and loss, Deborah Crooks' lyric-driven and soul-wise music has drawn comparison to Lucinda Williams and Natalie Merchant. Influenced in equal measure by The Beatles, the Beats and the Blues, Alex Walsh has put his unique stamp on rock, pop and Americana music in four full-length Cds of critically praised original music. After meeting on the San Francisco songwriter circuit, sharing gigs as well as a love of Billie Holiday, Robert Johnson, and Muddy Waters, Deborah and Alex decided to collaborate. The resulting Crooks/Walsh Blues EP contains five originals that stay true to the raw & rootsy aesthetic of the duo’s shared musical heroes while highlighting their own unique blend of California blues.
